Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting

Mr. Royal was inspired by the recently released Superman movie to create this spectacular “Is it a bird…” It seems very true to what the movie seems to be. His Superman’s hair is not perfect but slightly mussed, as though today’s challenges are tougher than before. I haven’t seen the film, but there seem to be a lot of supervillains and, in the end, perhaps the toughest conflict of all, the culture war.

Royal’s Superman was so good, I was curious to see what other people were inspired to create..

Hero bonding.

Ethan Takeda Lane’s “Hero Bonding” is an irreverent acknowledgment than even superheroes have to pee. He gives us two taking a respite in the men’s room with some well-placed pixelation. I love how intensely they stare at each other. It’s such a fun image.

Hope

Sephael Devir gives us a more conceptual framework in “Hope.” It reminds me a bit of the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy realizes she is not in Kansas anymore as she goes from sepia to full color. There is this black and white picture of Clark Kent, but the light shines on his chest where he is revealing his Superman suit, the duocolor secret life and the colorful life of the hero. This is a fabulous way of capturing the contrast between the hero and his alter-ego.

It's a bird, It's a plane

Ivoceno Rossini gives up my favorite without even showing Superman. “It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane.” He captures the effect of Superman. His echo in the world, it’s genius.

Superman

I love checking out what folks in Second Life do in response to events, including TV series and films in real life. Superman has been an inspiration since the beginning and some are incredibly creative. I put together a little gallery so you can enjoy my favorites among them — see above!
