Thanks to everybody who participated in my Patreon survey based on suggestions from Second Life merchants on the key improvements to the virtual world economy that would most benefit them. 251 people participated, which is roughly 1 in 4 of my total membership list.
With 40 votes, this is the improvement most requested by far:
Standardize the SL avatar body/head/optimize mesh and provide a FREE development kit to all.
The runners-up received 29 to 22 votes, in this order:
- Integrate Marketplace and Caspervend (gifting, deliveries, single listing).
- Start promoting and supporting smaller/newer/lesser-known brands – not just "top" designers.
- Make it easier for merchants to sort their items (ex. one listing with multiple colors) on Marketplace.
- Allow multiple stores on Marketplace per user.
As promised, I've reached out to Linden Lab for their feedback on these items, and they're being reviewing.
I also take one of these results as a recommendation for this Patreon/New World Notes/me: More coverage of smaller/newer/lesser-known brands. I did that last year with the excellent and hilarious Aardvark and the highly useful Discord Experts, but clearly much continued coverage is needed!
More on that soon, but meantime, standby for feedback on these suggestions from Linden Lab.
Do you agree with these improvements? Or are there others which deserve even greater priority?
