    So let me get this straight: The PBR-introduction was so rocky and left so many people behind, that it had such dramatic effects on logins and retention so that the Lab had to ask Philip to return.
    And in a Hail Mary attempt to salvage the situation, Philip (who I hold in high regard) thinks the solution to a self-made problem is client streaming.
    And now we are supposed to pay for that instead of GETTING some sort of compensation of any form for a situation the majority did not ask for, and which the Lab 100 % brought on itself?
    I think “adding insult to injury” is the expression fitting here.

    I might consider a lifetime payment up to a 1000 lindens that’s it…no more.
    Linden Lab is pushing people with no strong computers to abbandon the game or not to enjoy cos since the PBR the game has been shittier than usual for most of them.
    (me included since I do not have a powerful pc & cannot afford, nor i would afford, a new one)
    So this solution could be the opportunity for all to regain a game that they love. BUT we need to consider that there’s people that cannot or nor would pay hourly or monthly charges.
    I think this time around Linden Lab should do something to please everyone & not just their pockets. Cos the Second Lifers have had enough of their bullshit.

    Instead of introducing paid workarounds like client streaming, the Lab should take the L and roll back to pre-PBR. PBR has brought no real improvement to the world’s aesthetics, yet it has significantly worsened performance for many users, leading to frustration and a decline in player retention. Rather than doubling down on a failed update, Linden Lab should acknowledge the damage done and restore the previous system to ensure stability and accessibility for everyone.

    The number of people who are just offering a low one-off price for Second Life streaming is basically an insult to people who run this kind of service. Please check what your local GeForce NOW affiliate is charging for an hour of gaming, then take into account as well that the instance needs significantly more storage AND bandwidth as it’s connecting to both Second Life and your client PC while using a fraction of a GPU to render and encode visual responses to your inputs. If LL doesn’t more than double the hourly rate for streaming after this initial testing, it is because they think they can afford this to be a loss leader and are counting on you to spend big inworld.

    most games aren’t free and folks pay $20 plus a week on sl just for land not to mention the bodies etc, so i see nothing wrong with a fee, perhaps $10 per month or a yearly subscription

    Wouldn’t the intelligent way to do this be to offer the service free for a while, get people to see it is usable, maybe get some new users into SL, and then indicate they are going to start charging? Who is going to pay for it until they know it increases the in world performance they get?

    Wait, the recently announced Firestorm Zero is just a cloud stream service, not running locally?

    probley nothing as SL is suppose to be free and you would basically be selling a diffrent viewer. you would autmatically make it a subscription service.. with no acutal benfit to the user…. free house.. free land….? firestorm cant give that
