Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting

Mina Arcana’s “Feelings” brought my late-night Flickr browsing to a dead stop. It was in someone’s faves. Sorry, I forgot whose, but I am grateful because she was new to me. I absolutely love this shot and yes, the illusion is created by a free gift from Zibska but it is powerful and heart-stopping because of her choices. She chose black and white, the background, the nail caps, the pose and they make all the difference. She seems to focus on head shots and has produced a stream of extraordinary portraits.

GILDA

Wow! “Gilda” is a fabulous homage to the film Gilda starring Rita Hayworth, taken clearly from the scene with “Put the Blame on Mame.” [click here.] The film was famous for its photography and the lush closeups on Rita Hayworth’s face. The camera was in love with her and this screenshot is in love with Mina’s avatar. The single spot of color is her red lips and it’s perfect.

“Marlene” gives us Marlene Dietrich in all her glamor and the haze of smoke that surrounded her in cabarets and with her ever-present cigarette. I love how the smoke casts shadows on her face. In spite of all the cigarettes, she lived to be ninety-one and was a force for good throughout her life, This portrait captures Dietrich’s indomitable spirit. Her life was amazing and so was her work. I love how this picture captures how fierce the original was.

Mina Arcana’s photostream is dominated by head shots and I am glad. She does such a great job of capturing a character in her pictures. I love her more abstract and wild pictures as well as her pics recalling the grand dames of film or even comic characters like Eva Kant. [click here]
