Don't show your weaknesses

Fernando Lozatt gives us some popular, but often bad, advice with his excellent picture, “Don’t ever show your weaknesses.” I love a lot of things in this picture. The lighting feels natural, coming from above. The slight angle makes it seem as though someone is about to go up the stairs and Fernando seems more in the way than if it were shot straight-on or from the right. The advice? Who is going to see the weaknesses? It’s bad advice for relationships and so-so advice for battle. After all, if you know your weaknesses you can prepare defenses that may lay a trap for your opponent. Also, Lao Tzu suggested “'Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”

Hot and strong ☕

The title “Hot and Strong” may, or may not, refer to that cup of coffee he’s holding. I like strong, hot coffee myself, but when I think about hot, strong coffee, I always think of my dad drinking his first of many cups of hot, strong coffee, sighing in appreciation, and then saying “That’ll put hair on your chest!” I always wondered why he said it as though it were a good thing. Generally speaking, it means it will make you tougher. (There’s an entire discussion about whether you can say it to women, if you’re curious, click here.)

“Beach Saturday” is an excellent shot of the eager anticipation of a dog looking at a ball they will soon fetch. He did such a good job of lining up the dog’s line of vision that it looks spontaneous and natural.

Fernando Lozatt’s photostream is full of day-in-the-life pictures of a guy in Second Life just having fun. He’s enjoying himself and it shows in his pictures. He also has a male fashion blog called Fernando Lozatt Male Blogger
