Sansar’s Corporate Owner Announces Attempt to Resolve Unspecified “Issues on the Platform” After Last Week’s Downtime

Here's a mysterious update to the Sansar platform and website going offline and then back on again last week before the Christmas holiday: Steve Moriya, VP at Sansar owner Wookey, posted this in the official Sansar Discord server on Christmas Eve:

hi there. this is steve from the wookey management – sansar team. i thought i'd pop in to let you know we are actively looking to resolve the issues on the platform. we value our community big time, and hope that we can get things running smoothly soon. big thanks to daisy for her assistance here. we appreciate your patience and understanding…

No further word about the specific "issues on the platform", and insiders I've talked to aren't sure either. (And I've tried contacting Wookey for an official statement multiple times to no avail). Reportedly one of those issues is resolving the furlough of Sansar employees that has existed since at least September.

More news when I get more news. Whatever happens, hopefully the former Sansar employees and the small if thriving Sansar community on Discord get a satisfying resolution.

    5-10 people ‘thriving’ on Sansar? Hardly. No one is thriving on Sansar, it is a dead platform.
    And anyone who is currently contributing and investing their time in this sunken ship is going to be sorry, when it is closed down due to the current ownership not able to even keep it’s Amazon Workspace bills paid and their Umbra license up to date – which is clear and accurate indicator that they don’t have money left.
    Meanwhile, the company plans to try to sell Sansar as it is a ship already at the bottom of the ocean – but can’t sell any value in Sansar other than 1000’s of unfinished worlds and a marketplace full of ripped, stolen and re-uploaded free assets from all sites on the internet.
    There’s only so many years that you can use Sansar as a write off and loss against earnings from other investments.
    Sansar’s time is short, and the only people on it are the deluded 5-10 people who think it’s coming back, and continue to work for free for Sansar.
    Meanwhile the majority of the population is either banned, disenfranchised, angry, disappointed or outright hostile towards them – all of which they earned with their incompetence, mismanagement and war they have waged against their own user base.
    How funny to blame Amazon for down-time, intermittency, editing server crashes, etc – disrespecting AWS and their workspaces when it happens every 3 months for the last 2 years – every time the bill needs to be paid.
    Don’t blame Amazon, we know you’re late on paying the bills, and it shows.
    Why anyone continues to make stuff for this platform, or attend it’s lame campfire events, while they’re trying to sell the platform under their feet is beyond me.
