Second Life railway system

The Second Life train community (railway/train creators, engineers, regular passengers) is yet another awesomely geeky subculture I've been meaning to write about for years, and this recent /SecondLife post is a good place to start: Created by Rydia Lacombe, behold this beautiful traveler's map to the railway systems of Second Life. (Get a free copy on the Marketplace here.)

And yes yes, you can not only ride these trains, you can BYOT them. (Bring your own train.)

As /Stellaaahhhh explains:

You can drive the train! There are even free ones on the mp. Then just find a rezz zone and put your train on the tracks. Someone picked me up in one of the Bellesaria neighborhoods just a few days ago.

Here's a Google Spreadsheet guide listing all the stations.

Next question: Is there also a train robbery community in SL, or does Red Dead Online get all that fun?

There’s a defunct railway too. The operator just left the locomotive where it last stopped, and it has been rusting in a field ever since. It’s been there in SL forever. Somebody ought to haul the eye sore away.

    AM,
Not to gush, but it was Hamlet’s book and the Far Away that made me come to SL and stay!
