Zoota Manoota’s photos are extraordinary. I love “All the Children Are Scattered” with its gorgeous and intense blue to yellow gradient and how the texture overlay gives it the craquelure of an old painting. I love everything about this picture. The people look so serene with their eyes closed as they wait for the sun to which they can turn.

With the news this week of another death in the Southern Resident killer whale community in Puget Sound, this gorgeous picture is bittersweet. This is the same community or orcas that is home to the mother who carried her dead calf for seventeen days. This picture is a reminder of how beautiful these animals are. It’s lovely to see a healthy orca. I love the way he fills the picture and the small flash of sunlight in the upper right.
“Too Hoot or Not to Hoot” made me laugh out loud which is why I chose it for the third picture. Ii was struggling to choose, paralyzed by choice. There were the pictures of circus performers, of the whale, of the astronaut, the self-portraits and aesthetic erotica. So much to choose from, I chose the one that made me laugh. I love how charming it is.
Zoota Manoota’s photostream is overflowing with great pictures. I love his sense of humor. There are several erotic pictures though they are all aesthetically framed with shadow and positioning to make them perfectly anodyne. I love the way he looks at things. His pictures are sometimes wide and not very tall. Some pictures he zooms in really close. You don’t always know what his picture is at first glance, but then it resolves and you see how very clever he is with his composition.
