Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Lula Yue just looks at the world a bit differently than most and that makes her photostream a delight. The title for this picture is a quote from Carl Sagan, “For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love.” This picture is actually a fairly simple shot of her sneakers and the shadow she casts, but she turned it 90° and made it magical.

In “a distant constellation” Lula shoots a portrait against our usual instincts. The light is so bright it makes her hair’s shadow obscure her face, revealing only a narrow bit of her features. Her hair is blown out white, with a few strands casting shadows. Most people would soften the lighting and turn it so her face is in the light, but Lula saw the beauty in the shadows.
This untitled picture taken at Skrunda-2 is amazingly life-like. At first glance, I didn’t even think it was an SL photo. Depth of field and the foggy atmosphere all help the illusion. It is beautifully composed, the buildings and the tables all leading us deeper into her world.
Lula Yue’s photostream is hard to characterize. She has extraordinary landscapes, she plays with light and perspective. She does great indoor decor pictures. Her portraits are extraordinary. There are slice of life photos. She experiments and shares her wonderfully quirky worldview with us.
