Core game Unreal festival contest

Speaking of creating virtual worlds with in-game modeling/scripting tools, behold: The Core Invitational Game Jam, awarding $120,000 in prizes to games created on the platform. (Think Unreal meets ROBLOX.) Details:

Categories and prizes include:

  • Best Overall: $30,000

  • Best Tycoon/Simulator Game: $5,000

  • Best Shooter Game: $5,000

  • Best Homeworld/Social Experience: $5000

  • Best Game Remaster: $5,000

In addition to Special Awards: 

  • Best Trailer/Machinima: $3000

  • Most Aesthetic: $2500

  • Most Innovative: $2500

$120,000 is a heavy investment to spend on user-generated projects, but Core's developing company, Manticore Games, has lots of major investors who know the metaverse space, including Unreal creator Epic itself and VC firm Benchmark, which long ago invested in… Second Life.
