Imperia Novák’s photos are dramatic and intense. In “Innocence is gone, Only fear to play with…” she captures the style of Alphonse Mucha with the avatar framed by the mirror as though on a throne. It reminds me of a hilarious post featuring prints by Elin Jonsson who captures the women of “Game of Thrones” in the style of Alphonse Mucha. They are both tremendous homages to the master.

“The Fog” is another picture very much in the style of Mucha. She added the embellished frame that was a hallmark of his work. I love the concept and hope to see even more cards in the future.

“Broken Heart Crimes” is something completely different. I call it camp noir. Think “Briarwood,” a noir TV series that is campy in the extreme. A bloody woman with an axe could be grim, but then there is the black and white rockabilly shirt and hair and the graphic-novel style text and suddenly, it’s pure camp. I love it.
Imperia Novák’s stream is fun to explore, not just for her Mucha homages, but for the fantastical role-playing characters and the dramatic images. She is bold with her lighting, comfortable with backlit avatars that are seen dimly through shadows. In fact, the single united element of her work is its boldness.
