Lisa Pia’s “Sakura” highlights one of the true joys of Second Life, hanging with friends. In this time of social distancing and staying-at-home, it’s lovely that people can still congregate and enjoy each others’ company with easy and safety. This so captures the mood the day, too. I don’t know what the weather is like where you are, but here, there is a fresh breeze, sunny skies, and blooming fruit and flower trees. It’s would be a lovely day for walking the Japanese American Historical Plaza if not for social distancing.

“Let’s Kiss and Make Up” lets you know what’s happening even though you can’t see. It’s a little cheeky and a lot of fun. Even though you see no faces, you see lots of personality in their shoes and the darling puppy who clearly wants to be the center of attention. It does look like they had a real blowout fight, though, since one of them has all their worldly goods in boxes on the street.

Lisa Pia also does fun fantasy and whimsical photos like “I’m All Ears”. This just made me happy to look at it. Doesn’t this make you want to surround yourself with cuddly critters and “little friends?”
I’ve been a fan of Lisa Pia for a while, featuring her in a column back in 2017. One thing to remember about her work, she will often create the entire scene including the poses in order to achieve the emotional effect she wants to portray. If you get an emotional punch from her photos, that is what she is looking for. Be sure to check out her fantasy sci-fi photos. They are for a photo contest that just ended. Winners haven’t been announced yet, so I didn’t want to feature any.
