Imogen Charlevoix SL sims blackout month

"Blackout August" is the name of a proposal from SL content creator Imogen, a call for the Second Life community to take a break from the endless, often monotonous and frustrating loop of weekend shopping events — and instead, to explore the virtual world itself.

"This movement was never about shutting Second life down, it was about stepping back," as she puts it to me. "Some people are lost in the shopping loop and others genuinely enjoy the shopping simulator. But let's be honest… events and weekend sales have turned SL into a nonstop digital mall and it's affecting everything, even the Linden Exchange.

"There's little sense of community left. Too many treat SL like it's Etsy with avatars. and here's the truth: if your business is built on a solid foundation, one month of pause wouldn't destroy it. In fact, a reset might be the very thing that brings real connection and better business back." (In fact, many or most mainstores are amazing places to visit in themselves*, and as I've reported, most SL brands make more money from mainstore sales, rather than events.)

If Imogen's idea resonates, she has some personal recommendations of SL sims to visit — click the link for the map/SLurl:

And here's some teleport SLurl recommendations Imogen received when she was planning to launch a Second life Destination expo:

Kaiden Tray Italian villa sim sl
And to add my own recommendations, Kaiden Tray's Italian-themed Costa di Luce (pictured above) just opened: Click here to teleport!

*Here's a couple mainstores that are also cool / fun sims to explore I've recently written about (SLurl in the post):

And don't miss my seven spectacular SL sims to see from 2024 (hopefully they're all still online since running that).

Please recommend other amazing sims to visit in Comments!

To be fair, I think your readers should hear the reaction to this selfish nonsense on the SL Forums. There is universal condemnation.
I think this post sums it up:
“It’s like saying I need to go on a diet, so everyone else should diet too.
What about the poor bakers trying to make a living? All that pastry should just go stale?”

Hamlet should write about the weak Second Life economy and the weak Linden Dollar and the weak private region sales, well private region decline.
Being a creator in Second Life equals spending tons of hours behind a desk in 3D model software to give away their goods for pennies at events.
Booming business is going on in the virtual world.
