Survey: How Should Linden Lab Regulate Generative AI in Second Life’s Online Marketplace?

As controversy over Generative AI content in Second Life continues, here's a survey on how Linden Lab should deal with the subject in the online Marketplace. Choose the option you support MOST (or disagree with the least).

In one option, creators have a choice of tagging their content as having "no AI" and use that as a selling point. (And since it's a voluntary option, creators could still use gen AI and fib about it — and risk getting called out on it by the community.)   

In another option, creators must label their content as either having "No AI" or "Contains AI".

In still another option, gen AI is banned outright, and Marketplace users can flag suspect content for investigation by Linden Lab, with various penalties if it's confirmed to have AI.

Discuss in Comments! And if there's an option I'm missing, definitely include that, and explain why. At some point, I'll run these preferences by Linden Lab.

    Tricky one. The only other place I am familiar with in this regard is Itch which states
    ‘We recently added the AI Disclosure feature. You will have time to review and update your pages accordingly, but we are strictly enforcing disclosure for all game asset pages due to legal ambiguity around rights associated with Generative AI content. Failure to tag your asset page may result in delisting.’
    Personally no prob with that rule. For all 3 things I have up there… Not sure if the Lab have the resources to actually enforce anything plus people ‘fibbing’ (nice way of putting it =^^= ). The other problem is MP wise they had better provide a bulk update option. And yes, MP changes are always so simple of course.

    Even as someone who is anti-AI, I don’t think user generated content should be regulated or even tagged.
    The only expectation I have is that Linden Lab not use or promote it in any form.

    I absolutely hate the use of AI, but I still say let the consumer decide. They should be the ones to vote for AI generated stuff, with their money.
    I have shown provenance many times in my listings, and guess what? Noone cares, or worse they look at you as a blowhard braggart – when all you want to do is say “hey I put hard work into this for YOU to enjoy!”. You’re hated by consumers if you charge more for your hard work, hated by your competitors who like to cheat their way to the $$$ with as many corner-cuttings as possible, and the end user doesn’t care as long as it looks cool and is cheap.
    Let the end user decide. This might mean the entire destruction of the industry as we see it today, but so be it. People don’t deserve talent if they’re not willing to support it, and they can choke on mediocre for all I care.
