Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
I love it when SL artists tackle a personal photography project to explore an idea. You can find these projects by checking out an artist’s albums where they collect photos in a set. Skye Donardson created a fascinating album featuring the five senses as tchotchkes on a table, or perhaps more accurately, specimens in a museum. One fascinating feature of the tableaux is that her avatar is represented as a head in a bell jar whose use of that sense is blocked. For “Hearing” she wears sound-suppression ear muffs. For “Taste” she wears a ball gag and so on. Do check out this album, it was a genius idea and brilliantly executed.
Next, Skye takes a look at the elements.
A year earlier, Skye’s project was The Elements and she shot Earth, Air, Water, and Fire with accompanying objects and creatures. I love how she puts objects that illustrate her element inside the chest cavity of the skeleton she turns into an avatar. She keeps her head and hair which are appropriately decorated with objects that epitomize the elements. It’s a fun set with clever execution.

Skye also shows how to ethically recreate an image in SL. She notes in the title that this is an homage and links to the original in her description. There is no suggestion that the concept was her idea. I love the concept and think she did an excellent job doing homage without recreating it exactly while also being completely up-front and honest with her followers. This is an excellent image and a model for how people should show respect for the origins of their projects.
Skye Donardon’s photostream is fascinating and thoughtful. There are fascinating projects including a not-safe-for-work collection of jeweled insects. She has many interests so her stream is always fresh. Page Two will not be more of the same as Page One. She loves to shoot aesthetic nudes, so use your safety filter at work or enjoy the entire stream where you have privacy.
