Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Live, Love, Laugh is MetteKenzo Nagy’s blog. She focuses on fashion and I was drawn to her work by her colorful, bright pictures. “Ooh Na-Na” really appealed because it was a successful example of turning a picture on its side. She didn’t do a full horizontal. Even though the diagonal is very acute, it still allows us to make sense of the picture without turning our laptop on the side. I have been baffled by these pictures for quite some time, but Gogo explained the rationale and now it makes sense. Many of today’s blogs have such big pictures they fill more than the screen, by going diagonal, they can get the whole picture in your window without scrolling. Now it seems obvious. I like the dress, though it’s only for the body made by the same creator.

A bit of rockabilly in the next post — along with my personal advice for fashion bloggers:
“All About the Bass” is a fun post that features the rockabilly polka dots in a cute sundress, earrins and dot-like spots with absolutely perfect hair. I loved the hair with the bow. Unfortunately, she only names the stores and not the items. The hair is from EMO-tions by Mirja Mills and the bow is from LaGyo by Gyorgyna Larnia. This can be surmised from the tags at the bottom and on Flickr. I thought they were one item until Sparkle Skye recognized the bow from LaGyo. I thought for sure these items would be credited as they blog post even includes a close-up of the face and hair.

I almost scrapped this post and started over because I was so irritated that the full hair and clothing credits were not provided. However, I loved the styling and think it would be a small thing for MetteKenzo Nagy to fix to have a really great blog. Her pictures are clear and highlight the clothing. She is good at styling. Her blog is clean and clear and well-organized, but she only credits a few items, I assume from her sponsors. I like that she includes the dates of events, a good example for people to follow since it’s not much fun to go looking at an event for something from three months ago. .
This gets at why people blog. Is it to have a reason to style outfits, blogging for yourself. If so, then it doesn’t matter that you don’t provide credits because you’re not trying to please anyone else. If it’s blogging to please sponsors, I am certain they care most that their items are featured and highlighted, but I remember one long-ago blog that had some truly bizarre outfits.
I finally IMed the blogger and asked why she put together some children’s accessories, boots, and a cocktail dress. She tiredly explained that she was blogging everything she received and that was that was left after all the other outfits she had blogged. She was not pleasing herself and I don’t think she was pleasing the designers who supported her either.
But if you blog to please your readers, well, then you will give credits that make it easy for them to find items at events and after, style clothing in new and fresh ways such as the great hairbow and updo in this example, and please yourself by building a loyal following.
